The Weighted Keys is an unforeseen collaboration of four unique musicians, born from a spontaneous improvised concert at the Floating Castle festival in Slovenia in the summer of 2025. The ensemble consists of Devina Boughton (US/FI) and Davide Stefani (IT) on trumpet, Vilma Talvitie (FI) on piano, and Karoliine-Lisette Kõiv (EE) on violin.
The musicians’ collaboration interweaves organic improvisation on acoustic instruments, alternating with melodic fragments from global folk music and jazz music. In addition to everything auditory, The Weighted Keys also experiments with movement, theatrical elements, and poetry on stage. Through the shifting of the stage space, the ensemble explores various dualities such as free improv vs. structure, the dark night of the soul vs. the comic-jovial carnival, whether to play or take a break. In December 2025, they will make their official debut tour, performing 2 concerts in Finland and 2 in Estonia.
