Workshop and ”The Prequel: phase 1” by Bunch of Scrumps
Bunch of Scrumps is a collective of artists (Maja Kalafatić, Jacqueline Aylward and Jesse Ojajärvi) making experimental dance and music performance pieces. In this group the work is primarily made by the performers with the intention of exploring what artistic knowledge can emerge from this position. Scrumps work non-hierarchically, interdisciplinarily and with a sense of fun. The collective works both to hold individual perspective, skills and identities and also to collapse them into one being. Scrumps formed in Helsinki in 2023 with its core members coming from Finland, Australia and Serbia/Slovenia and is now internationally active.
“The Prequel: phase 1”
This project is the continuation of the Bunch of Scrumps Collective’s previous projects. The objective of the artistic work is the creation of a history for existing performances. Like prequels found in novels or in the cinema it operates as the backstory while also containing its own drama. Some key words and ideas for “The Prequel”: reverse-dance, the dance before the dance, lifting the drumsticks, foreshadowing, pseudo-origins, the dance that you forgot you knew and disturbed nostalgia. This work will be developed and shared in different versions (phases) across Finland, Serbia and Slovenia in 2024/5.
