ALIEN is an exhibition / event series involving artists from the Nordic countries that will tour the region from 2025-2029. Based on the artists’ relationship to both alien mythology and social alienation, we explore otherness and combat loneliness with artworks, performances and workshops, that celebrate daring to be different.
The archetype of the ‘alien’ is very powerful within human society, and in many ways is a reflection of our imagination and desires. Some believe that UFO phenomena are psychological in nature, like a new kind of religious experience that fills the gap left by secular scientific rationalism. Others claim to have had direct encounters both on Earth and in parallel dimensions or far-away galaxies. We call ourselves ”alien enthusiasts” because not all of us believe in aliens, but we all hope they exist.
ALIEN explores the possibilities of connection hidden within the darkness of inner and outer space. Through diverse narratives, playful openness, and radical care, we create a dimension of collectivity and healing. We are never alone.
