Vilma Jää – Kosto
Hundreds of years old stories meet electronic music in Vilma Jää’s concert Kosto (Revenge). Jää—known for her versatility as a singer and a folk musician—has created a multidisciplinary performance where she sings about dark topics and feelings often seen as unpleasant such as hatred, sorrow and revenge. The stories ranging from sexual abuse to revenge fantasies are a part of women’s lives just as much in 2021 as they were 500 years ago.
Shifting between acoustic and electronic sounds, Karelian cowbells and other archive recording soundscapes melt into synthetic beats as Finno-Ugric tradition flirts with highly produced pop in Jää’s new solo material.
