Asentoja
Positions are connections, such as:
Asentoja is a performance for a single performer. It tells the story of a moment when a person encounters an octopus and is irreversibly changed, wobbly flesh or fading ripple on some kind of shore. On the other hand the performance explores the relationship between the body and text on stage. Can a text create, instead of a path, a space where the active body has the freedom to revolt?
Asentoja asks why the body scratches its back, always twists into a new position, and refuses to be viewed as you would like. The performance draws from theatre, contemporary dance, and puppetry. It is a multi-limbed, distracted and electric body seeking space to expand beyond definitions.
“The performer cuts off the tongue of the text so that the body may begin to speak, and not these words.”
Premiere on August 16th at 7pm
Additional performances on August 17th at 3pm & 7pm
The performance will be mostly in Finnish without translation.
The duration and notice of potentially distressing content will be specified closer to the premiere date.
