To evoke, to summon, to conjure, to call forth, to invoke emotion, to bring to life from memory or ‘the beyond.’

WORLD STORYTELLING DAY

This Friday, March 20th, come to @vapaantaiteentila to celebrate World Storytelling Day with an evening of folktales, myths, poetry, music, art and community.

We are all made of stories, and the stories we choose to tell shape our world and our lives. It is important that we reclaim our human right as myth-makers and storytellers; remember that art holds the power to shape the course of destiny, most especially when we come together to witness and share ourselves in community.

A STRANGER AT THE DOOR (part 1)

The first half of the evening will consist of a small series of folktales, myths, and poetry performed by Geneviève Andræssen, and accompanied by live, improvised music.

What will you do when a stranger comes knocking?

ALL ARE WELCOME HERE (part 2)

The second half of the evening opens the floor to all who wish to share their art. Whether you offer poetry, music, stories, or simply what is on your mind, come share what is alive in you and make an offering to the circle. (If you already know you wish to share something, feel free to contact Geneviève ahead of time, but the floor is open to anyone—time allowing).

PLEASE NOTE

We ask that this event stay free of phones and recording. This night is intended to exist for us alone who gather, for a moment in time and for and non-artists alike to share what needs sharing—ideas of perfection should be left outside. (Thank you for your understanding).

The event is free of charge, but a suggested donation is asked to cover the cost of snacks and to compensate the musicians who will accompany storytellers.
