NEFES
Turkish musical ensemble “NEFES” was established in 1990 as a Turkish Folk Music group together with Finnish and Turkish musicians. During the times, different musicians took part in the group. While the group was searching its own style, not only the musical repertoire and knowledge increased but also a spirit of discovering the deep mystical meanings in Turkish music became a center concept. Today, NEFES has 6 members consisting of amateur and professional musicians, from Finland, Turkey and New Zealand.
While the group has started with Turkish Folk Music, it is more and more that they show the courage to go into Classical Turkish Music and mysticism of Sufi music in our musical activity.
NEFES, continues to participate in various performances in private occasions and festivals with the same passion and presents the best examples of Turkish music to Finnish music lovers.

Global Music Master’s Transcultural Ensemble
In a collaborative, open environment, these musicians bring their diverse and rich musical backgrounds to the table, sacrifice and rebuild them anew in order to communicate interculturally. With a strong backbone of improvisatory elements, storytelling and songwriting, our ensemble draws on human emotion and life experiences to paint musical landscapes and build a common dialogue. We will wake up thoughts, questions, memories and dreams inside the lens of this group’s transcultural musicality.
