Record Release Concert ”While You’re Lonely”(Irazu Records) Josefiina Vannesluoma & Kenneth Jimenez
Improvising duo consisting singer Josefiina Vannesluoma and New-York based double bass player Kenneth Jimenez. After meeting and connecting in a Miamian jazz jam in 2016 they formed a quintet ”Syys” that played original compositions and toured in Miami area. As a duo they have explored free form and got together in Helsinki in 2019 to improvise, play concerts and record. Now, almost exactly two years later, they get together again in Helsinki to play and celebrate their record release through Irazu Records, an independant avantgarde label based in New York.
KENNETH JIMENEZ (USA/CR)
Originally from Costa Rica, Kenneth Jimenez is a bass player and composer currently based in New York City. He’s performed with artists Francisco Mela, Michael Attias, Tom Rainey, Satoshi Takeishi, Angelica Sanchez, Gerald Cleaver, Roxana Amed and Martin Bejerano to name a few. He has performed nationally and internationally and was selected to take part of the 2017 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
JOSEFIINA VANNESLUOMA
Josefiina Vannesluoma is a contemporary and experimental vocalist and flutist living in Helsinki, Finland. She leads and composes for Signe, Mortal Lease, WANV and Nossa Bossa as well as for other projects. The vocal ensemble Signe’s debut album was nominated for Jazz-Emma as well as Teosto Prize in 2020.
